Electrifying Medical Technology
Power supplies designed for medical technology can be roughly divided into two main application areas. On the one hand, stationary applications in hospitals or in resident physician practices, and, on the other, portable or homecare equipment. Depending on whether the users are professionals or laymen, the requirements for these power supplies will differ in terms of insulation, contact protection, and leakage current.
CODICO is focusing on homecare equipment to comply with the tougher requirements set out in IEC/EN60601 4th Edition, such as protection class II, 2xMOPP ("Means Of Patient Protection"), and BF ("Body Floating").
