MIE1W0505BGY: Ultracompact & Isolated
With the MIE1W0505BGY, MPS (Monolithic Power Systems) introduces an ultracompact isolated DC/DC converter in a low-profile SOIC-16 package that fully integrates the transformer, MOSFETs, and feedback loop. Only a few external SMD capacitors are required on the input and output sides for operation.
Compact Isolation Solution for Low-Power Designs
The converter is designed for applications with very low power requirements below 1W. Galvanic isolation is often required not only for safety reasons but also to prevent interference in signal measurement or data transmission. However, the selection of suitable products on the market becomes very limited when both low output power and a high isolation rating above 2.5kV are required. Conventional through-hole DC/DC modules are typically much larger and often fail to meet the demands for high isolation and compact size.
Accurate Voltage Regulation via Capacitive Isolation
The device supports both 3.3V and 5V input applications, delivers up to 200mA output current, and is ideal for powering digital isolators, sensors, and analog-to-digital converters - particularly when no dedicated power source is available on the isolated side. The MIE1W0505BGY employs a capacitive isolation technology, which is also used in the feedback loop to achieve precise voltage regulation. This technology, tried and tested by MPS, ensures long-term reliability and excellent performance.
