NISSHINBO's Sensor AFE ICs for Industrial Equipment
AFE IC for Offset Correction And Gain Adjustment
The NA2200 from NISSHINBO is an Analog Front End (AFE) IC with a 16-bit resolution and a sampling rate of 1ksps (ranging from 0.814ksps to a maximum of 6.51ksps). It supports a 5V power supply, meeting the demands of the industrial applications market, and enables offset correction and gain adjustment with a single command. The NA2200 includes numerous features required in industrial environments.
Simplification of the Design for Precision Applications Such as Temperature Control
AFE ICs are components placed between various types of sensors and microcontrollers (MCUs). The analogue signals output by the sensors are amplified and converted into digital signals by an ADC, making them readable and usable by the microcontroller. These ICs incorporate integrated operational amplifiers, ADCs, and signal processing units to reduce size and simplify design. AFE ICs are gaining popularity in a wide range of applications that rely on a large number of sensors, including in industrial, consumer, and automotive markets.
One of the applications of AFE ICs in this class is temperature control. Typically, a three-wire resistance temperature detector (RTD) with platinum (Pt100) is connected as the sensor. The built-in current sources can provide 1mA for the Pt100 as well as 0.1mA, 0.25mA, and 0.5mA, making them compatible with other sensors, such as the Pt1000.
3 Different Models are Available
NISSHINBO also offers three additional AFE ICs: the NA2202, NA2203, and NA2204. All three feature additional functions compared to the NA2200 and can be considered sensor AFEs in the 1-ksps class. The primary difference between the three models lies in the ADC resolution. The NA2204 achieves a resolution of 24-bit, followed by the NA2203 model with a 20-bit resolution and the NA2202 model with a 16-bit resolution. All three models come in a QFN4040-24-NB package measuring 4.0x4.0x0.7mm and are pin-compatible.
Evaluation boards are available to facilitate the assessment of the NA2200, NA2202/03/04 models as well as the older NJU9103 model. Development software for parameter settings such as gain adjustment and offset correction is also available.
