Series Launch of the RUBYCON HPB Series in January 2026
Efficient Alternative to Film Capacitors
With the start of production of RUBYCON's HPB series in January 2026, the capacitors based on PMLCAP technology will enter mass production. The updated datasheet includes all final specification changes, including adjusted ripple current ratings, the removal of the 20% tolerance option, and the temporary suspension of the AEC-Q200 marking until extended qualification is completed.

PMLCAP technology uses a stacked polymer dielectric structure and offers several advantages over conventional film capacitors in DC-link applications:
- Higher power density (smaller footprint with the same performance)
- Improved ripple behavior across the entire temperature range
- Stable capacitance values up to 125°C
- Reduced losses at high switching frequencies, ideal for SiC and GaN-based inverter topologies
Use Cases
The HPB series is particularly suitable for DC-link filters, on-board chargers, industrial drives, and high-frequency converter stages.
Key Specification Updates
- AEC-Q200 Status: The marking has been temporarily removed and will be reinstated once full qualification is completed.
- Tolerance Options: The series will be manufactured exclusively with a 10% capacitance tolerance.
- Finalized Ripple Specifications: Adjustments to material and process configurations ensure that the new tables accurately reflect the actual performance of the series production parts.
Why Are RUBYCON HPB PMLCAP Capacitors Ideal for DC-Link and High-Frequency Applications?
With the start of mass production in January 2026, the RUBYCON HPB series positions itself as a compact and efficient alternative to film capacitors in modern DC-link applications. They offer higher power density, improved ripple performance, and stable capacitance up to 125°C. With finalized ripple specifications and 10% tolerance, they are ideal for DC-link filters, on-board chargers, industrial drives, and SiC/GaN-based high-frequency converters. The updated datasheet provides full transparency by reflecting all final, production-ready technical specifications.
